How expensive is it to live in N.C.? And are there jobs available there?

I'm thinking of moving to Eden, N.C. and would love to know these answers.

Eden is close enough to commute to Greensboro - maybe Burlington or Winston-Salem. You should have pretty good luck finding work in any of those larger cities. (Depends on your skills / experience, of course.)

However, the job market in the state - as a whole - is down right now (getting better, though).

'Expensive' is a relative term.

2 years ago, I was paying around $800/month for an (older) 2-bedroom townhouse in Durham (something newer/nicer would've been $900-1100/mo). Prices around cities in the area you're looking at should be comparable - maybe considerably cheaper in Eden.

So, why Eden?
Reply:It really depends on what you do and where you want to live. On both ends, near the mountains and the shore, are plenty of resorts so jobs are abundant, but expenses are quite high. On the other hand, some of the smaller inland towns are great, much less in terms of cost of living, but not a lot of job offerings.
