I am never happy with my jobs. I am lucky b/c I usually have well paying jobs but I'm unhappy with them,?

Co-workers bother me, I can't stand office politics, company policies bother me, it's like I am never happy or satisfied.

I am usually happy in the beginning when everyone is nice %26amp; I'm learning stuff but after few months, I start feeling bored. I am so afraid I will never get anywhere in life in my career. I have a degree in History but I work in Administrative or Finance departments.

I don't really have a personal life (no relationship) so my job is very important to me.

I have to be challenged and motivated and very few managers seem to know how to do that.

What can I do?

I am never happy with my jobs. I am lucky b/c I usually have well paying jobs but I'm unhappy with them,?
What is the common denominator in all the jobs you've had? It's YOU!

I would suggest that you look for a job in your area of study. This should take care of the boredom. You may have to start "beneath" your skill level, but strive to work your way up the ladder knowing that when you reach a higher-level position you'll know better what to expect from those under your supervision.

Work to raise the bar at your office. Be friendly and positive. Enjoy and appreciate that fact that you have a well-paying job. I know people who would be happy to have virtually any job, well-paying or not.

Be content with what you have, yet set goals and work towards getting what you want. Any experience you gain prior to landing your "dream job" will make your a better, more well-rounded and knowledge leader.
Reply:Go back to school and find a field you like better.
Reply:I'm so glad you asked this question. Sometimes I feel like I'm in the same boat. At this job for 15 yrs, unhappy, but don't want to start all over at a lower pay scale.

I'm still struggling to find something different that I like to do and will be happy putting in my 100%.

I also thought about continuing college in the field I'm currently working in, but it doesn't guarantee a pay upgrade.

Hopefully the answers you get here may help me too.
Reply:Well despite what all the propaganda we see in movies, etc about following your heart and living your dreams and doing what you love, sometimes you just have to do a crummy job to earn the dough.

You're best bet if you're not fulfilled is to find something outside of work to occupy your time. Take up a new hobby, do something exciting, travel, learn a new skill, etc. You'll be more engaged at work when you know you have something exciting to do after it.
Reply:you need to do some serious career planning. Ask yourself honestly what can you do that would make you happy. It may be something completely off the map, like opening a restaurant. But you have to be honest. Either that, or grin and bear it. A lot of people don't love their job (hopefully they don't hate it), and they just do a good job to pay the bills.
