Earle Chester Clements (October 22, 1896 – March 12, 1985) served as Governor of Kentucky and as a member of the United States Senate from Kentucky. He served as Senate Majority Whip when Lyndon Johnson was Senate Majority Leader.

Clements was born in Morganfield, Kentucky. He studied at the University of Kentucky and then served in World War I as a captain teaching military science. He then worked in oil fields in Texas, later returning to Kentucky to farm and coach football. He also served as a deputy sheriff before being elected Union County sheriff in his own right, serving 1922-1926. Clements was then elected and served as county clerk (1926-1934) and county judge (1934-1942).

In 1935 Clements refused to chair the campaign of Happy Chandler for Governor of Kentucky and the resulting split was the source of factionalism within the Kentucky Democratic Party for decades.

In 1941 Clements was elected to the Kentucky Senate; he served as majority leader in 1944.

Clements was then elected to and served two terms in the United States House of Representatives, 1945-1948.

In 1947 Clements defeated the Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky Harry Lee Waterfield in the Democratic primary for Governor of Kentucky. Waterfield was a staunch ally of Happy Chandler. Clements then defeated Republican nominee Eldon S. Dummit by 387,795 votes to 287,756 and won a term as Governor of Kentucky.

As governor Clements made the state parks and state roads high priorities. While Clements was governor, New York was the only state that spent more on its park system and Texas was the only state that spent more on its roads. Kentucky's unusually widespread system of four lane divided highways is in part a legacy of Clements' governorship. Clements also oversaw the construction of the Kentucky Exposition Center and Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky. The Legislative Research Commission was founded while Clements was governor, with Clements' support. Clements also founded and established the Kentucky State Police, in part to replace the semi-corrupt highway patrol. Clements also reorganized insurance regulation in the state and saw to it that poor school districts received additional funding.

Clements failed to convince the Kentucky General Assembly to end segregation in Kentucky's graduate and professional schools, regulate strip mining and establish statewide pension and civil service programs. However, years later in 1959 Clements saw to it that a worthy successor, Bert T. Combs, won the office over Happy Chandler's lieutenant governor and hand-picked successor, Harry Lee Waterfield. Combs and Combs' hand-picked successor, Edward T. Breathitt, fulfilled more of Clements' progressive legacy as they desegregated all public schools at all levels in addition to all places of public accommodation. Combs also established a state civil service program that remains in place as of 2005.

Clements' achievements in his single, truncated term as governor rank among the most impressive of any in the history of the state.

Before his term as governor was over, Clements resigned to seek a seat in the United States Senate and won that election over Charles I. Dawson, 3000,276 votes to 256,856. Clements quickly became the Democratic whip under Lyndon Johnson. Johnson and Clements were extraordinarily effective in leading their party in the Senate.

Clements was succeeded as governor by his Democratic lieutenant governor, Lawrence Wetherby, who won a full term as governor in his own right in the 1951 election.

In 1956 when Clements' Senate seat was up for election, Clements' factional enemy Happy Chandler was serving a second, non-consecutive term as Governor of Kentucky. Chandler made sure the Democratic Party denied Clements substantial assistance in his re-election bid [citation needed]. As a result, Clements lost his Senate seat to Republican Thruston B. Morton. Clements returned the favor, seeing to it that his faction of the party successfully supported Bert T. Combs for governor at the end of Chandler's second term in 1959, denying the governor's mansion to Chandler's lieutenant governor and hand-picked successor, Harry Lee Waterfield[citation needed]. The Clements-Chandler factionalism continued on for many years within the party.

From 1957 through 1959 Clements continued to work side by side with Lyndon Johnson as head of the U. S. Democratic Re-election Committee. In 1959 and 1960 Clements served as state highway commissioner under Governor Bert T. Combs. Clements then returned to Washington as a lobbyist and as an executive with the American Tobacco Institute.

In 1981 Clements retired to his hometown of Morganfield, Kentucky, where he died in 1985. He is buried at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield, Kentucky.

Has anyone been discriminated against for a job b/c you are pregnant?

I have been teaching kindergarten on a temporary contract for 1 year now. The person whos job I took over is coming back so now I have to reapply for jobs within the school district. I have had wonderful evaluations, parents requesting me for next year, people at the school I am at wanting to keep me....but I interviewed for 2 jobs at different schools and didn't get either one! Now I am out of a job for next year with baby on the way...I am visibly pregnant and think this is why..I would be taking Sept-November off to be with my baby. Very frustrated, upset and felt like I have been slapped in the face! Can anyone else relate?

Has anyone been discriminated against for a job b/c you are pregnant?
With my first, I was nineteen years old, and I got turned down to work at ALBERTSON'S. They told me to "come back when you've had the baby".

... So, yes, I know how it feels. I'm sure it's even worse when you've been to college.
Reply:I'mma guy....

...so no.

I would use the people who like you to your advantadge. I'm pretty sure there's a parent there somewhere who is willing to help you out by mentioning your name in passing to the right people.

Iunno, I don't know that much about being pregnant or teaching.
Reply:I totally understand what you are going through. Unfortunately people do discriminate. Back in Jan. I got hired at disney world in Florida. Everything was great until I found out that I was pregnant. They didn't cut me any slack and when I tried to bring a doctor's note for light duty they rejected it. I knew the things I was doing was not healthy for me or my baby, and got tired of trying to get them to ease off me but they used it against me to say i was using it as an "excuse". I had had enough and left, but now I am 5 months and fianancially can't afford to stay home. Had an interview but as soon as I mention I couldn't stand up for long periods of time or carry anything heavy....that was it. So as you can see you are not the only one in this situation. It hurts because employers look at you and all they see is someone who needs more breaks, or can't work like a slave so they can't use them. Don't let it get you down, be strong and just keep trying. I have another interview tomorrow and i'm not gonna let the first one get me down. Pregnant women have as much right to work for their families as anyone else and if you feel that an employer is judging you for that reason. Feel free to remind them about the Law of equal rights. Best of Luck and congrats on the Baby!!!
Reply:It simply does not matter...people will find something, eye color, tone of voice, etc to pull apart.

Just keep at it, and you'll be fine.

Good Luck!
Reply:I wasn't actively discriminated against, but that's why I'm not working right now. I graduated with a special ed degree in December, and I'm due with my first child this Sunday. I figured no school - no matter how desperate - was going to hire me knowing I wouldn't even finish the semester. Principals want stability for the kids whenever possible, and if there is another qualified candidate for the job who is NOT pregnant, he/she is going to get the job. It's not necessarily fair, but they can always cite some other reason to not hire you.

Just keep interviewing! If there are no more openings in your school district, try neighboring areas. Surely you can find someone willing to look beyond your pregnancy and see how qualified you are. Good luck!
Reply:My friend is a nurse and when she was pregnant one place didn't hire her they said shy could not lift and weight but another place did hire her even knowing she is pregnant.

Don't give up keep trying. If you can't get a teaching job just any decent job in different field so can work for short period once you have the baby if you want you can return to teaching job. I don't know if you have insurance or not. But even if you get any decent job atleast you be able to get insurance. Why don't you work at a bank, flower shop etc.

I'm looking for a job in Washington, D.C. but live in Rhode Island... Suggestions?

I do statewide policy work but am having a hard time taking my career down to D.C.- basically I'm debating if the line on my resume that reads "Providence, Rhode Island" is setting it to the bottom of the stack? Do I stand a better chance if I move to D.C. (with out a job) for a month and pound the pavement?

I'm looking for a job in Washington, D.C. but live in Rhode Island... Suggestions?
Check out www.indeed.com and www.dcjobs.com -- both are great resources for job hunters!
Reply:First, try to add in a line in your resume said you are willing to pay for the travel expenses to interview in DC and relocate at your own expenses.... then see if anyone will give you a call.

And, any special reason for you to move to DC? The salary might be higher but the living expense are high in DC. One bedroom apartment will cost you at least $900 upto $2000.

Think twice !
Reply:Yes, I would say move to DC
Reply:yes I believe that is what you need to do......
Reply:Yea, you should move there. It will give you the 'zitsfleish' to fin a job.
Reply:Run for Congress.

Otherwise, do NOT quit your current job to 'go find a job'. That is foolish.
Reply:i couldnt tell ya cause i live in minnesota
Reply:yes, because many companies have hiring policies that keep them from hiring people that would need to relocate (i think they are afraid of the possibility that you may ask them to financially help with the move, find you houseing, etc.).

you may want to consider telling about your move in your cover letter- or using the DC adress on your applications.

it is risky now to just move without having a job- with the way the economy is going- it makes it increasingly difficult to find a job.

Having to get health insurance b/c new job does not provide it, any suggestions on what company?

are there any i should absolutely avoid?

Having to get health insurance b/c new job does not provide it, any suggestions on what company?
Getting informed before you purchase health insurance is the best way to ensure the most affordable rate. Read on to shed some light on some of your tough questions.

What are the different types of managed care?

There are three main types of managed care.

Preferred Provider Organization (PPO): If you opt for a PPO, you have access to a network of health care specialists. You may choose a health care provider from within your network or a non-network health care provider. You pay more if you choose to go out of network.

Health Maintenance Organization (HMO): An HMO requires a co-payment to an in-network physician. However, an HMO will not pay for services you receive outside the network. You choose a primary care physician and they become the gatekeeper to your health care. You must obtain a referral, if you seek specialty care.

Point of Service (POS or Open Access HMO): With this insurance plan is, you can go out of network. But you won’t be reimbursed the full amount—usually only 50 to 80 percent.

What is an HSA?

An HSA is a health Savings Account, which is used along with a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

If you choose an HSA, you put tax-sheltered money into a savings account. When you become ill or injured, you use the money in your account to pay for your medical care. If the cost of service exceeds the deductible of your HDHP, the insurance company pays the excess.

This is a good way to save money on health care, because you only pay when you seek service and are not required to pay a monthly premium. However, if you have a health condition or partake in some dangerous hobbies, you are probably better off with a traditional plan.

What’s the difference between a premium, deductible, co-payment and co-insurance?

A premium is the total monthly or annual amount you pay toward your policy.

A deductible is the amount you must pay before your health plan begins paying your health care expenses.

A co-payment is the amount you pay when you receive care. The amount varies depending on your plan and whether you go to an in-network provider. Usually a percentage, co-insurance is the part of health care you pay along with your deductible.

What is a preexisting condition?

A pre-existing condition is usually a health issue that arose before you applied for coverage with a new insurer. Whether a pre-existing condition is covered by a new insurer varies from plan to plan, insurer to insurer. Some preexisting health conditions are excluded entirely, some are fully covered and some are covered after a specific amount of time. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guarantees coverage for pre-existing conditions if you are joining a new group plan from your employer and you were insured the previous twelve months.

Will my health insurance pay for my prescriptions?

In most cases, you will have to co-pay for prescriptions. Depending on your plan, certain types of prescriptions may not be covered, such as oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy. And if you opt for the generic version of the drug, you will pay a significantly lower price for a comparable product.

Will my insurance rates increase as I get older?

As you age, your risk for certain health conditions increases. For example, women are more susceptible to breast cancer after age 40. Insurance underwriters take those statistics into account when determining your rates. But as health care continues to improve, certain conditions no longer guarantee you a higher insurance rate, such as high cholesterol or blood pressure.

How do I find the right insurance at an affordable price?

Individual health insurance is still rather costly because most people are insured by their employer. If you are self-employed or your employer does not offer coverage, your best bet is to shop around. Use InsureMe to request multiple quotes from top insurance companies!
Reply:The best depends on your needs, budget, age, health and location.

You should avoid discount plans.

You can spend all the time you want trying to run quotes on line or you can spend 5 minuets speaking to a broker and they can help you find a plan that fits you specific needs and budget.

Try using yellowpages.com to search for health insurance brokers in your area.

Don't call your auto and home agent they specialize in property and causality insurance. You need someone that specializes in health insurance.

A Broker represents multiple carriers and can help you sort through all the different insurance companies and plan options in your state.

Maurico had some good advice but he is mistaken about HSA's when he stated "This is a good way to save money on health care, because you only pay when you seek service and are not required to pay a monthly premium"

You can't have an HSA without also having a High Deductible Health plan. Which does have a premium.
Reply:Rates from one company to the next can vary by location, age, etc, etc. There are some free on-line rating services that can take the guess work out of it. All you have to do is fill out an -on-line quote request and they will quote you with dozens of companies that provide health insurance coverage in your area.

A couple great sites that are free and there is no obligation to buy is:

http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-2977717-104...

And

http://mysite.verizon.net/ressg6c7/savin...

I would get as many quotes as possible through them.

Also the second site that I listed provides links to check out how financially sound a insurance company is. This is important to verify how they rank before taking out the insurance.
Reply:It sounds like a not easy cracking nut, have a look here, you should find something useful for you.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...
Reply:http://healthplans.my-age.net - Try this one. I personally have my health insurance from this company.

It is cheap and has very good coverage for dental issues.

Is it hard to find a C++ programming job with only a AA (Assoc. in Programming)?

As long as you know what you're doing and have good examples to prove it the degree doesn't matter as much

Is it hard to find a C++ programming job with only a AA (Assoc. in Programming)?
It will hurt getting your foot in the door, but certifications will help. In the interview you can prove your skill, however you still need to get the foot in the door. I would recommend attaching some examples of some code you have written along with your resume, with a brief note explaining that you wished to display some of your capabilities for the reader. That should help. good luck.
Reply:Most companies dont care what degree you have(well, actually they do to an extend). If your knowledge is beyond the AA level, as in if you have done some self-teaching then it probaly wont be so hard. Your degree isnt as important as your knowledge. If you are a person that knows what he's doing and is good at it, then it doesnt matter what degree you have(kind of). There are many companies that give a hands-on exam for the interview, so you can really excel at places like that if you are good at c++.

A fresher...KNOWS ON C++.. WANT TO GET JOB... WHERE SHOULD I APPLY?

I know c++ programming. Have just completed a book on c++, have run all its programs. Knows all the basis of this. dont have exprience. CAN I GET JOB ON THE BASIS OF C++? AND WHERE SHOULD I APPLY?

A fresher...KNOWS ON C++.. WANT TO GET JOB... WHERE SHOULD I APPLY?
That's great that you took the initiative to learn, but what is your level of experience. Companies do not generally hire people with less than a few years experience actually coding.

your best bet is to design some programs that no one has though of before, and continue to advance. Create a website and offer the program for free. When it gets big start charging a small fee but in the mean time ask for tips..This is a proven method that has worked in the past. I'm refering to the creator of Startup Control Panel mike Lin http://mlin.net . You could place a paypal logo right on your site to collect revenue. I have some other ideas as well, but that is for a later date. In the mean time come up with some ideas of programs that people need but dont have.

Good luck, if you need help and want to shoot an idea by me visit http://www.fowlerit.com or email me shane@fowlerit.com

Which is better option after B.C.A. :1)doing M.C.A externally with job, 2)fulltime M.C.A.?

I am in final year B.C.A. and confused about future. Many advised me to conduct M.C.A. fulltime and then doing job through placement or applying explicitly in the company. But still i will be having a tag of fresher after completing M.C.A. . So I am willing to do job with part-time M.C.A., so that at completion of M.C.A. I have experiecne of 3 years %26amp; Master's degree. Is only B.C.A. qualification with fresher tag can get me job? which option do u think is better?

Which is better option after B.C.A. :1)doing M.C.A externally with job, 2)fulltime M.C.A.?
First, I agree with the others who have given you advice. Secondly, you working parttime for experience is also a good idea, EVEN if it is done voluntarily and not for pay. Experience is a great thing, and can be used on a resume regardless of whether you got paid or not.

Leaving job b/c of breakup?

I was dating this guy I work with for 4 months. Please spare the lectures on dating ppl u work with...I learned the hard way. So anyways, he cheated on me. Not only that but made me a laughingstock for it at work b/c I was so stupid, %26amp; one of my best friends/roomate who also works there knew about it the whole time but didn't rat him out b/c then he would tell her bf about her cheating.

Long story but a jerk that used to work there I lost my virginity to %26amp; both guys really ended up hurting me. Another guy there tried to get with me %26amp; nothing happened really but I did find out he was cheating on his gf with others. After all that's happened at that stupid fast food place, I don't want to stick around. But for my new app. I need an "actual reason" for leaving. What do I put? B/c I don't think I would get hired by putting the truth.

Leaving job b/c of breakup?
leaving your job because of a breakup,

is very unprofessional.
Reply:And you certainly should not put all of that crap on your application as a reason for leaving your previous job....that would be a sure fire way of NOT getting a new job!!

You can always put down "looking for new opportunities", "interested in pursuing a new career direction" or something like that....
Reply:You may just put in a transfer if you are looking to work in the same field of work.

Either that or just say you are seeking a change of pace and new experience in a different working environment.
Reply:You don't have to tell any employer anything about your personal life.

Just advise that you're wanting to explore new job opportunities. You can say that you want to a position that offers more opportunities to grow within the company.

The main thing is to leave on good terms with the supervisor/manager so when the new company you've applied with calls they will give a good reference for you.

Do yourself a favor and keep your thoughts of leaving to yourself if at all possible. There is no need to have all those that have made your life hell knowing you're wanting to leave. All they will do it make things worse for you. They may also try and find out where you've applied and ruin new opportunities for you.
Reply:don't put you left for a realtionship reasons. Put you needed a change or say that you were looking for something a bit diffrent. Putting you left because you got cheated on bu one of your coeworker, is not going to look very good. At your next job try not to sleep around with the guys. I dont have a problem with dating guys from work, but just not all of them.
Reply:Just say that it was a place of work that was immature and non professional and wasn't a place where you wanted to be at or work at. The truth wouldn't be appropriate to put on the application but you can say it was unprofessional because it was and not somewhere that you could advance! Sorry that you had to go through that, it seems unnecessary and stressful - at least you learned from it!
Reply:I was in the same situation until I ended this am. found out the guy has been seeing several people that we work with(n a hospital) at the same time. he constantly denied it and today i looked at his phone records and find out. u shouldn't b hurt behind a sorry *** man. u deserve better and there is some1 out there that will treat u the way u should b treated.
Reply:just tell them you were looking for something different
Reply:whoa complicated story

just tell them u r going back to school
Reply:Put that it was a hostile work environment.

Take Job A, Job B, or Option C?

3 scenarios:

After college I started in an industry that pays the bills and is more of a job than a career. After working in that industry, and actually getting laid off a week ago, I have opportunities now to get a higher paid position in that industry (JOB A), or travel down the road in a more entry-level position in something I am more interested in - (advertising )(JOB B)....OR travel down the other road and try to get into grad school for advertising (option C)(pretty much guaranteed job after school but initial investment is high)

Take Job A, Job B, or Option C?
I like Option B. You should cut your losses in Job A and go for something you are really interested in. If you do well in advertising (which you are likely to since you have a passion for the field), then it won't matter if you have a graduate degree or not. If you really feel you need the grad. degree, you can always do it later. Unless you already are married with a family and really need the money that Job A will provide. That changes my answer. If you are single--definitely Job B.
Reply:Why can't you take Job B and do option C? That way you are getting your foot in the door and learning more about it at the same time. I work and go to school. It make take you a little longer to finish if you only take one or two classes a semester but as long as your gettting paid to do something you like then who cares. Job B may promote you with out the schooling so you might as well try that and push your way up in there.

Surely there are other factors to consider--are you married? Thinking of it? Do you have kids? How old are you? Do you have funding to go back to grad school?

I think you'll be happier in something you love to do. Getting more education to make this job easier to attain, more quickly to climb the rungs, is never wrong.

I've been raised to consider education #1. If you can get it without making yourself or anyone else uncomfortable, do it.

TX Mom

P.S. You know that advertising is a high-stress zoo, right?
Reply:A job and a career are not the same thing!

It is a big myth that everyone in life needs a career. Many people are just fine with a job that is not too objectionable and allows them the most free time (which most careers that require ambition and hard work don't allow) to pursue hobbies, have a quality family life, relax, smell the roses. Men especailly have career pressure, but many men I've met have analyzed themselves and realized which is really "them"---a job or a career.
Reply:It is better to be happy and earn less, then be miserable and earn more. I'd go with option B if you are truly interested in that career, or else I'd go with option C...

If you love your work, It won't even seem like work...
Reply:You could go into A for short time to save up money for C so that you can eventually go into B at a similar pay grade as A.
Reply:You should work doing something you love. Namely B.

Why do PPL in the U.S. think Mexicans steal all the jobs?

why do Americans think Mexicans are "stealing" all the jobs?AND TELL ME WHY YOU THINK THAT....I really don't think they are stealing the jobs, b/c there are many jobs, and if americans really wanted 2 work they would LOOK for jobs

Do you think illegel immagrients should leave?i don't b/c AMERICA is a "FREE" country, and everyone should be treated the same

Why do PPL in the U.S. think Mexicans steal all the jobs?
I Agree!

Mexicans don't steel jobs, they take the jobs that no one seem to want. You don't see white people picking fields, Selling flowers or strawberries, oranges, etc. on the side of the road.

If the whites claim that the jobs are getting stolen, pff, there are plenty of openings where these Mexicans are working.

Have those people, claiming that we are stealing their job, work out in the hot summer sun. Have them build homes and pick your food on the fields at 100+F on a summer day.

So you see these Whites wouldn't want these jobs.

Whites DON'T want those jobs, so why is it they say we are stealing them?

If you claim that they are stealing the jobs, go on apply to where they are working and be the majority there.

And i don't care if a white man calls me a ****, or a wet back, it tells me they are ignorant to this economy. This economy is based on these people working the unwanted jobs of the Americans.

Oh yeah, Weren't these whites at one point in history immigrants too?

HAHAHA
Reply:seeing that Mexico is a sovereign nation

it's Not United States job to create jobs for Mexicans to walk over the border anytime without permission from the gov't
Reply:not everyone thinks this. particularly conservatives who are grounded in economics.

legal immigrants are welcome as far as I'm concerned.
Reply:they say that because they think we steal there jobs and pretty much the only jobs they give us in working in the fields and and i know the "real americans" wounlt want to work there ture if they really want to work they should get there lazy *** up and get a job we should stay b/c then there wounlt be no diferent ethicities here and the truth it would be boring we should be treated the same and my parents only came her to give me a better life
Reply:While they do work for less( supposedly taking Americans jobs) the real issue is the people that are paying less to workers in order to turn a profit off of them. If i was from Mexico and was very poor like most are, i too would do whatever it took to support my family and if others honestly answered that question, their would be less problems. and racial slurs.(what is this pre 60's).
Reply:Because they are. Not all the jobs, but the illegals are not entitled to have any of them.
Reply:Big increases in immigration since 1990 have not hurt employment prospects for American workers, according to a study released yesterday.
Reply:It isn't free for you to come and take, it is 'free' in the sense that we are free to speak our minds and free to choose our own religion.

They take the good paying jobs and drive down wages because of too many people chasing the jobs. the Boss doesn't have to pay as much. Illegals have driven down meatpacking job wages, agricultural job wages and construction wages just to name a few. They don't belong here.

My biggest problem is what illegal immigration does to the schools. THEIR children's better life is at OUR children's expense. However, it absolutely impacts the wage structure as well.
Reply:I think that SOME (NOTE I SAID SOME, NOT ALL) americans forget that they came from other places as well and now they don't want to share any of the blessings becuase they are afriad to loose what they supposedly established..but then again they can come and take what didn't belong to them in the first place...but anyway it's probably for financial reasons and stuff...people get upset becuase tax payers sometimes don't get government aid but an immigrant might get free healthcare and financial assistance before one of thier own, but as long as you are doing the right thing, its ok to me.
Reply:Because it's true. illegal inmigrants, mexicans or not, are destroying USA.
Reply:I don't like outlaws. Outlaws belong in jail, or in the case of aliens who are here without authorization, belong back home. I don't care if they are Irish (1/2 of my ethnicity) or Chinese. Illegal means against the law. My other ethnic half (Cherokee and Creek Nations) is native to my region of the North American continent (Georgia), whereas the Aztec and Mayan invaders need to go home, if they can't come legally.
Reply:because they are taking jobs that Americans CAN NOT work, and not jobs that they don't want to. CAN NOT implies that they are being paid less than minimum wage, and if there were no illegal immigrants, then the owners would have to hire Americans instead or move out
Reply:ILLEGALS do steal jobs from Americans!!!

Illegals do NOT just work in the fields!! They are in EVERY type of work now!! This includes construction work, plant work etc. which USED TO BE done by legal American citizens, both black and white!!!

Because the ILLEGALS will work for LESS money than Americans, this drives down wages for EVERYONE ELSE!!

And, YES illegals need to be DEPORTED, with NO chance of ever coming back to this country!!

And, as for America being a "free country", well that FREEDOM is for LEGAL American citizens!!!

NOT, for ILLEGAL INVADERS!!!

Is it ok to fire a military spouse from a job just b/c she has to leave in 5 months???

I received a job offer from a hotel as a receptionist, I went in for an interview and told them up front I am a military spouse and my husband is deployed for anouther 5 months and they knew i was from a diffrent state. The second week I came into work and my employer pulls me to the side and tells me she has to let me go. Her boss had told her to do so b/c he was looking for a permanent employer. I never said I was going to be leaving he just assumed it. There was nothen I could say to anyone I denied leaving but I had lost the job. I even mentioned to him that there was no way of being sure anyone would be permanent. Is there anything I can do about this? Can I get unemployment or sue them??

Is it ok to fire a military spouse from a job just b/c she has to leave in 5 months???
Unemployment you can get.. but what they did is totally legal. These days they could tell you they were firing you because they found your shoe laces offensive.. at least they were honest.
Reply:you might be able to get unemployment. if i was you i would call a lawyer asap. don't let something like this happen to the next person. if you don't do something people like him will think they can treat people any way they want.
Reply:Legal? Yes. Ethical? No. Report it the labor board? Yes. Unemployment?? In MOST state you would have to be employed for 6 months or more to apply. Let the local military family liason's office know of this, problem. And write a letter to the Company President. Let him/her know you understand that it was legal, but it stikes of a lack of flexiblity to military families, which in the eyes of many Americans ( Myself included) as unpatriotic and unrealistic. Who has held a job as a hotel receptionist for more than a few months to a couple of years?????
Reply:Your husband is currently deployed, he is due to return in 5 months - and your "permanent" home is in another State. Gee, how is anyone to guess that you might not leave the area when your husband comes home?

Seriously, when an employer says they are looking for someone to fill a PERMANENT position, that is what they want to get: someone to fill a PERMANENT position. In 5 months, you might move back to your permanent home in that other state. If there is any real chance of you leaving after only 5 months - and you have admitted that there is - then you are not really a permanent employee.

You might be able to swing unemployment - but the employer is within his rights to give you your "walking papers".
Reply:File a complaint with your state's Dept. of Labor. If they ignore you I would write a letter to every TV station, radio station and newspaper in your town and write a letter to the editor of each newspaper and use the hotel's name as often as possible.

My bf thinks b/c his job is hands on he works harder then me....help?

me and my bf have been together a little over a year. he works in a warehouse doing shipping and recieving and i work at a bank as a asst. loan officer and sometimes a teller...now i know there's no real comparison. but everytime we get home and i say im tired or have a head ache he say's "oh please im tired" granted his job is tough but mine is mentally tiring. im on the go the whole day, most of the time i eat at my desk. he say's there's always something hurting me....how do i get him to see my job as he see's his....any advise????

My bf thinks b/c his job is hands on he works harder then me....help?
Why fight over who works harder? Don't try to win, you will both lose. I work in an office where the work involves a computer all day (CAD Drafter/ designer/ estimator) When it comes down to crunch time, it is very very stressful, to the point where three or four jobs have to be done yesterday. I used to work in the delivery side of this business, delivering furnaces, boilers, air conditioners etc, that was hard physical labor, but honestly, i thought that my office job is more difficult. I enjoyed figuring out ways to get 1200-3000 lbs boilers in and out of the basements of really old houses (its the thing they used to use to heat many old houses, they are solid cast iron, usually old houses have narrow steep stair cases) Yes the shipping and recieveing job is more physically demanding, but the banking job is mentally taxing. You won't burn the calories each day he does, but you will be just as tired at the end of the day.

You ever go to college? Ever take two or three finals in one day that were computer based? Sure you may be sitting still all day, but staring at that computer, thinking with every last neuron in your brain, it wears you out. I am not sure how to get the point across to him, honestly, I am not sure its worth it. Just tell him that your job is mentally taxing and you are just as tired at the end of the day as he is, then tell him you don't want to fight about it any more. Good luck with that, hopefully some of my examples will give you ideas
Reply:Your bf sounds like a total jerk!
Reply:Let him know that you know his job is physically strenuous but your job is mentally strenuous and give him some examples of some of your customers. Also, it was his choice to work where he works and yours to work where you work. Work is work no matter what or where you work it's ok to get tired in one form or another.
Reply:Tell him that you have a smart person's job and you're sorry he can't have one.
Reply:TALK to him! comunication helps, really. If he doesn't get it....it will be hard to continue the relations

i have not had a steady job for a couple of yrs now. i used to hold my jobs for a while and then i had a string of jobs that didnt go very well. i quit my last two jobs b/c they offered me little to no hrs. im very discouraged and my bills are mounting up quickly.im slowly losing hope that im gonna ever keep up w/ my bills and i have a hundred or so dollars left in my pocket and then ill be broke. if u were me, what would u do?

What if u lost ur job, were sinking in debt, and jobs were hard to find?what would u do?
I would try even harder to find a job. If that failed I would take a lower job just to get some income even if it was in a different field.
Reply:-----You may qualify for Food Stamps, unemployment compensation, and other forms of help. I feel sure your state has such programs, but not knowing what state you are in, I can not be more specific. Searching on the Internet or in the phone book should help you find it. Calling your state unemployment office should help you; they should be able to tell you where to look in your state. There are people out there who want to help you. ---Jim
Reply:If I were you, I'd get with a temp agency and get some work going and some income coming in. I'd also cut my expenses to bare minimum. Then start job hunting to find a job that suits you. Even if you don't find a dream job right away, get something and don't quit a job unless you have a replacement. For mounting bills, you might contact your creditors and arrange a payment plan. They will be more understanding if you have been unemployed but are recently re-employed.
Reply:Do you have anything to sell on eBay? get selling, buy from cheap car boot sales and sell.
Reply:Have you got insurance on your debt because if you dont you want to be really careful because if you get something like a managed loan because you have mised payments on your loan it is like 50% intrest!
Reply:Sounds like you probably need some sort of employment counseling. Contact your local version of "Dept of Economic Security" and see what they offer. If they're no help, try places like St. Vincent de Paul and see if they have a program for you.

You probably qualify for food from the food bank. You may qualify for subsidized housing for awhile.

You need to take the move to ask for assistance--be it government or private.

Good luck.

Jobs that could suck?

ok, silly question. I have been a CNA for 2 years, I'm a junior at USF, pursuing my RN. I recently quit my job( b/c I hate it) and because I have little experience, I'm thinking about other entry level jobs like....server..or stripper (at the local place). So I went to the local strip club and the girls were nice and cute. My sister works at Outback and she says she could get me a job. So how is the whole stripping thing? I don't want to get wrapped up with drama and all, but I need money. I'm the only one funding my education and bills. Any advice would be helpful.

Jobs that could suck?
You're going to make 5x the money stripping as you would Outback. Set a goal on either a time or an amount as to when you will stop and KEEP IT. Do NOT get mixed up in the drama. Easily said, not so easily done. DO NOT EVER take a drug.

It is a disgusting, degrading occupation, but you can definitely pay off school doing it. Keep your head on right, you should be fine.

BTW, if you deside to be a server, don't go to a corp, find a nice, privatley owned steakhouse (20 years experience)

Good luck %26amp; ~peace~
Reply:Strippers make more money but Outback servers take more of it home.

Stripping should be your last resort.
Reply:I had a roommate who was a stripper. Yes, she made money hand over fist, but it affected her relationship with her boyfriend, her relationship with her family, her self esteem. Not to mention that you better have a lot of self discipline about spending that money. That's how people get trapped in it.... you make $800/nite, but you'd better be responsible and have a budget for yourself. It's so easy to spend that money when it's jingling around in your pocket. And again, because it's so lucrative, you might be tempted to cease your diploma because you won't make as fabulous money in a career... but you can't strip forever.

That, and she had horrible self esteem. Had to drink to get up the guts to go do it, had razor marks on her arms. So sad. She was GORGEOUS, but I wouldn't have traded my life for hers on a bet. Plus, it just broke my heart that she was one of the smartest women I have seriously ever met in my life, but she always played dumb for guys. She could have gone to med school, she could discuss literature for hours... she was BRILLIANT. But she played the dumb pretty girl, so she's a personal trainer and a stripper now.

What didn't you like about being a CNA? The pay? The work itself? Your coworkers? You might want to pinpoint that before you go get yourself six inch heels and fishnets.

Fair or double standard? Issue w/ parents and money and jobs?

I've always been ambitious. I worked min wage jobs from age 14 up. Kids at school scoffed at me for working at McDonalds %26amp; thought I was geeky for working there, but I grinned %26amp; beared it. I worked so I could buy a car, b/c my parents weren't going to spoil me w/ one. When I got to college, I was a premed double major. I took a rigorous summer courseload in an effort to finish college early, b/c I was struggling to pay tuition.

That summer, I was stuck working a $7/hr ice cream job b/c I'd failed to find a better job despite trying hard(life's tough). This job consistently interfered w/ my availability %26amp; my courses. I told my parents this %26amp; my mom got mad. She said "Don't quit! Why do you think you shouldn't work a job? Stop being lazy!" even tho I'd always worked hard at jobs %26amp; school in the past. So I stayed w/ it, %26amp; it got to the point that the $7/hr job interfered w/ my courses to the point that I had to DROP a class %26amp; retake it later. The tuition was...

Fair or double standard? Issue w/ parents and money and jobs?
I sooo know what you are going through!!! And all I can advise you with is stick with your plan...don't be so ambitious, though, that you neglect your own healthfulness--mind %26amp; body--you will need to be in top form to get through internship, and that won't even be enough. Every year you gain more experience to afford you the confidence %26amp; awareness to land better jobs, however...the job is to flex around school, not the other way around...most employers around universities understand this very well...maintain your priorities. Also, you may want to ease up on the course-load...the tuition will not be as much at one time.%26amp; you can give more concentration to fewer subjects (quality, not quantity)..and pleeease, take your summer's off of school...you'll find it much easier to work %26amp; save for the following semester's tuition, %26amp; keep in mind that the field you are endeavoring into will sap every ounce of you %26amp; your time for many years to come...make some fun time while you can...and adding an extra year/year %26amp; a half will make a big difference to you later all the way around.

And when all is said %26amp; done, and you find yourself in a great workforce, making the big bucks...just remember who got you there...YOU!!! And recall who supported your efforts with the laughter %26amp; hugs %26amp; coffee-crams...YOU, and probably your closest few friends!!! And if you have kids of your own someday...be a more wonderful parent person than you were given example of...Best you can be, Hon...Good Journey!!!
Reply:Your situation is definitely unfortunate, but you seem to have a lot of anger towards your parents. Which is reasonable. I just wish you the best of luck with your career choice.
Reply:Your sister is the spoiled one!Jeesh. You worked hard all your life practically.Be proud!Your not lazy.Your sister is.Yea,the job wasn't worth losing the tuition over.I agree.Life is tough, unfair.Your mom had no right to grill you the way I see it.Your trying.Double standard or just plain bs.

I can feel some of your agravation.I had similar child hood.I was always the 'one' no matter what anyone did.I left. You'll at least have a good work ethic and intelligence to fall back on.

Sorry to hear your grief.Hope this was encouraging.
Reply:No, it is not fair. But in the end, you know, you've got the better deal. Because you already know you have to work for what you want, and you DO!

Your sister is given what she wants because she makes a fuss, so your parents give in. My mother did that with my brother (10 years younger than me), and in the end, my strict upbringing benefited me far more than my mother's indulgence of my brother has benefited him.

I don't know why my parents brought us up so differently, but I'm glad they treated me as they did. It taught me self-discipline, which is what you've shown in taking all those low-paying jobs to help keep your head above water financially. My brother was given loans and handouts by my mother long after he was married and earning a regular salary. He only needed them because he hadn't the ability or self-discipline to budget and live within his income.

My mother hated him asking, she resented him continually needing financial help, but she ALWAYS gave it to him, even when he was an adult. She and my father died years ago, and I now realise that much of her foolish indulgence of my brother was due to her innate preference for boys rather than girls. I think she also saw it as a way of ensuring that she would never "lose" him when he grew up. She knew (whether consciously or not) that he'd keep coming back whenever he needed anything she could supply. And he did! and she was torn between wanting to keep him on that string, and disliking and disapproving of his lack of good management.

My brother still hasn't any notion of disciplining himself over money matters. He's always short of cash, and his debts mount every year. He has a job now that pays very well, and he should have no difficulty raising his family and supporting his wife within the salary he gets. But he always overspends, and often on things that are both expensive and completely unnecessary.

I was taught by my parents that if you wanted something you couldn't afford, either you saved up until you could afford it, or you went without it. I'm grateful for that principle being instilled in me from the start, and I've always observed it. I can't BEAR to owe money.

The result is that I can pay my bills, and my brother often doesn't know how he'll manage to pay his. I love him dearly, and we are very good friends. We talk all the time, and I enjoy his company. But I would NEVER lend him money. He knows this, and he has never even suggested it.

I hope all this doesn't seem totally irrelevant to you. The point I'm trying to get over is that hard though it obviously is for you to be so unkindly treated and unappreciated by your parents, in the end, you will be the one who has the successful career and I hope too an enjoyable and happy life. Your sister, who seems at the moment to get everything handed to her on a plate, will be the one who needs help and support all her life, and my guess is that whenever the going gets tough (like the McDonald's job she gave up), she'll opt out and expect someone else to provide what she wants.

I think it will be interesting to see how long that job lasts at the animal clinic, and whether she really has the determination to pursue a veterinary training, which is long and very demanding both in academic and practical terms.

I do wish you the very best. And I hope that this painful experience won't cause you to hate your sister, but rather to understand that she has a difficult lesson to learn in life, and that it may take her a long time to learn it. It's not her fault that your parents are so thoughtlessly indulgent of her. I hope, too, that if or when, sometime in the future, your sister lands on your doorstep asking for help, you'll take her in and explain exactly what you can and cannot do for her - as kindly as possible!

Reply:I don't think your parents are fair, however, many families are worse then they are, not that that makes a difference to you.

What you should do is change your life around and make your parents not as important in your life. It is hard, but, you need to do what is best for you. They will continue to be too hard on you and that could in time, bring you down if your grades start to fail.

Not all of us have good family structures and you are one of those that don't and might not ever. You have more to overcome then the average student, so be aware that you should have a support group outisde of your family and take it from there. If you need to speak to a professional, then do so, it can only help you in your quest to succeed. I wish you the best.
Reply:well its always hard its never fair what do u expect. i don't know what's fair. but i do know that u are strong nd u can do whatever u set u mind to
Reply:No, it isn't fair. This is going to be a hard answer but give it some thought:

Since you are willing to work hard for what you want, continue to do so. Ask as little of your parents as you can and ignore what is going on with your sister. I know it is hard but you will win in the end.

Most of the people I know who are successful had disappointing things in their lives that still hurts them in varying degrees today. They concentrated on what they had to do to secure their future now everyone looks up to them.

Don't let these circumstances keep you from your goal. Fighting with your parents over what they do for your sister is a useless excercise. Here's wishing you the very best of luck.

P.S. I apologize for thinking you were a guy! So let me say you are one heck of a woman and I have edited my answer to reflect this.

From the additional information you posted, I have even more concern for your situation. How can a parent let a daughter be homeless? Why don't you look for some paid intern positions that will pay you more money and take a live-in job. Please start thinking of other ways you can help yourself so your life will be more stable.
Reply:It does seem like your sister is getting treated differently. She has 2 horses and doesn't have to put a dime towards their board and expenses? My parents would never have done that, even though I begged them to get me a horse - it could have lived on our property.

My parents would have told me to quit the job if I had trouble in school. After all, you only have once chance to take a course - if you get a C or a not good grade, it can drag down your GPA. Which of course can affect getting into grad school. Medical schools are competitive, I can't believe your folks wouldn't want you to do whatever it took to get the grades you need to get accepted.

Unfortuantely, sometimes the first child gets the brunt of the parents' trial and error method as they figure things out. often the younger kids have it easier - if it's the last child they have then they tend to spoil it. Sometimes they don't have the energy to argue with the other kids and let them get away with more.

Sucks, but in families with more than one child, they rarely get treated equally.

Would it make things worse if you showed some of these answers to your parents?
Reply:You should put the educational part first. Work the hours you can afford to work. School has to come first. Address that with your parents. If they can't understand, tell them, I am sorry you don't understand, but I will do the best thing for my future.

It sounds like they are not supporting you, so why do they have a say anyway?
Reply:Some parents feel the boys have to be men, but the girls will marry and be taken care of. It could be that or just that she whinned more than you! Either way, no it isn't fair. Nobody saild life would be fair though!
Reply:I'm so sorry about your parents attitude. You should have quit your job and focused on school. You are most definitely not lazy. You were taking a very difficult course load. I worked like you did. I regret it. It has not helped me and I never took it seriously. School is much more important. These low paying jobs are unstable and don't pay the bills. It's a pity that your parents fail to see the bigger picture.

I have the follwoing qualifications, need to know if I could get work or a job.C++.SQL and .net,?
it depends on your experience too. you'll have to be either extremely lucky or underpaid to get a job nowadays just based on the qualifications.
Reply:My C plus plus instructor made a comment in class, that companies don't worry about what languages as much as they want to know what computer "Skills" you have. He taught us that Java, and C and C plus plus have so many similarities that companys want to know your skill sets and will give you on-the-job training in the specific industry based language they are using. He also said that many Financial institutions want programmers and will train you in thier own proprietary language. I would assume that most industries are this way. They will look at your skills above your languages.

Job Interview- Class C Misdemeanor?

I have a job interview in two weeks. I had a Class C misdemeanor charge when I was 16 for theft. It was at a new job that I started and a co worker had a friend come in who stole some items from the store. I witnessed it and the co worker threatened me about saying something. I was scared and young at the time and did not report it. Needless to say we all were charged for theft. It went to court and I was granted 1 year unsuporvised propbation and it was deffered. I also in 2005 was picked up for a PI this charge was dimissed. Any thoughts on how to overcome these objectives in an interview. I have to put them on the application because I don't know it they will still show up on a background check. The theft charge was never found until my last job did a search.

Job Interview- Class C Misdemeanor?
what's your age now.? If it's been long enough, say 2 years and you have changed. no further arrests. don't worry. but be honest onyour application.
Reply:Normally an employment background check will only go back 7 years and they are mainly looking for felonies, one thing you can do is check into having charge expunged.
Reply:Depending on your state laws (here your not legal age until 17), you most likely were charged as a juvenile, and if that's the case, all juvie records are sealed and they wouldn't know that you had ever been arrested. But seeing how you stated that your last job seen it on your criminal background check, then you must have been charged as an adult. In that case, you can speak to attorney and have your record expunged,, This is where you go before and judge and they can wipe out your criminal record. Until then, you have to be honest with them and let them know that yes you had a incident, but you were young, and dumb lol. They'll appreciate that your being honest with them, it'll show that your more of an adult now, and that you've take responsibility for your actions.

How much does an A/C Recharge job cost?

on average... I have a 1991 Honda Civic. It needs an A/C recharge, it has freon in it now, but I think that its illigal to use freon now. so it would need a change over. I also could buy my own coolant. so I need the quote for me buying my own coolant, or the mechanic using his coolant.

Thanks in advance!!

PS. I live in Wisconsin. Don't know if that makes a difference.

How much does an A/C Recharge job cost?
I believe your vehicle uses R-12. Are you saying R-12 is illegal? It's not illegal, but the government would rather a professional use it. R-12 blows cooler than the current R-134.

To switch over from R-12 to R-134 is going to cost you a couple hundred at the least, having someone else do it, because the old refrigerant has to be derived and the system has to be lubricated with new oil, and if I'm not mistaken, some seals will have to be changed. If you can, research having someone add some R-12 to your system. It could cost around $80 for someone else to do it and if you know how to recharge it, you can buy the tools and refrigerant on ebay for around $40.

If you don't know how, ask someone who does or call around and ask how much they will charge. You are also going to want to make sure there are no leaks.
Reply:pep boys carries do it yourself recharge for the a/c you only need about two pounds of it but you need to make sure the a/c is working right if you have a leak in yours you being watsing the money you should let him check the system out on the car
Reply:take it to a qualified technician and have him diagnose your problem, there are alot of different factors that can cause a/c not to perform well. a/c compressor that is worn, expansion valve, debris in system, cooling fans, as well leaks in components or hoses, pressure switches. need to hook up gauges and check pressures as well as freon level. basic diagnoses to check should run between 45.00 to 75.00 dollers plus freon. r12 is still available but very expensive around 5.00 dollars per ounce your system holds roughly 24ounces. conversion to r134a only way to go.but first step is to diagnose problem.
Reply:He might charge more using your juice. Changing over should be $100 or less.

Anyways, if you learn java, and someone hires you, and they suddenly want you to do something in C#, they will give you a limited time spam to learn C#.

So I think the best thing to do, is to learn both, but specialize in one of them.

BTW, learning java or C# will never guarantee you a job. That depends on you.
Reply:Either one will be fine. Java and C# are so closely related (syntacticly wise) it took me (a Java programmer) about a day and a half before I had decent C# code.
Reply:If I had to pick one, I'd go with Java. C# ties you to the MS platform. Not that that's such a bad thing, but Java is used across the board on all platforms. So while you learn Java, you are somewhat learning C# too because they are similar.
Reply:C++ is too offen, most people knows the basic of C language. Java is not, also is harder. But if you intrested to be an Engineer, or 3D Developer, you need to know Strong knowledge of C++ and programming techniques. So at my point, Learn C++ is Better.

Misdemeanor Class C PI Affect job prospects?

I have a Class C misdemeanor chage for public intoxication whic I pleaded guilty to. Will this effect my job prospects in the future ( I have an Engineering degree and plan to get an MBA)? This was in the state in Texas, will this charge ever get erased over time or do I need to get a lawyer for to get it to expunged?

Misdemeanor Class C PI Affect job prospects?
Misdemeanor charges may affect you in some job applications. An attorney cannot get this off your record since there was a guilty plea unless you can get a judge to hear your case again. Many employers that do criminal background checks only need an explanation. Be honest if asked have you ever been arrested and convicted.

Misdemeanor charges can, in many cases, be explained to an employer. Guilty pleas are common in these type charges because you just want them over and do not want to bring in all involved which can be a waste of time for most.

You can be the president of a bank, fly for airlines, do real estate sales, etc., etc. with a guilty misdemeanor plea. It also depends on the type of charge to be considered by employers.

Again, just be honest because it is on your record for life. Explain the circumstances to the best of your knowledge and remind them you just wanted this over and done with.
Reply:When asked about your criminal history, say, "I was young and foolish when I was young and foolish. A misdemeanor charge of public intoxication, in the year 1492, and I learned my lesson. Nothing since then."

If you try to hide it, you'll always have it hanging over your head. Openly admit to it, and they will probably consider it not to be a problem.
Reply:If it happened during college years then to me it's normal

Moving to Washington D.C. without a job lined up?

I'm going to be startng college in D.C. in January, but want to move there soon. I know it's VERY expensive, but I want to move there soon so I can begin the job search in person and not from halfway across the country.

I have decent savings and what not, so I'd be able to live fine for a while before I start school and get a job.

Any thoughts on moving there without a job, or would it be advisable to have a job lined up beforehand? Thanks!

Moving to Washington D.C. without a job lined up?
I'm not sure what you mean by "decent savings" so let me give you some information.

Single bedroom apartments in the area go for anything between $800-$3000/month depending upon where they are. You can generally find a roommate using Craigslist, roommate.com or some other similar service. Rooms for rent in people's basements or whatever can generally go from $400 and up so you can usually get by for a bit that way, if you don't mind sharing with your landlord. Groceries are probably fairly typically priced but I bought a gallon of milk yesterday for $3.40 and I pay about $2.90 for gas in the burbs and around $3.05 in the more expensive areas in the city.

If "decent savings" means $2k I'd say find a job first. If it means $10k I'd say you're safe finding work here (most likely) after you move. The job market in the area is pretty good, especially if you work in the tech industry and have or can get a security clearance.

Metro doesn't travel far outside DC but it can get you to some of the suburban areas of Maryland and Virginia, so you can get a reasonable distance out of the city for some slightly cheaper rents (still in the ranges I indicated above) if you're willing to travel longer to get to work/school. Metro closes at midnight weekdays and 2 weekends so that might be a factor for you, and I believe it opens at 5 or 6 am.

Good luck.

Finding a job in D.C.?

I am currently a teacher but have decided to make a career change. I want to move to Washington D.C. and work in politics or Non-profits. I have a B.A. in history and obviously teaching certification, I also have some Grad School credits. Does anyone have any advice on where I should begin looking for jobs? Or do you think i should relocate and then find a job. I am not the kind of person who needs exuberant amounts of money, just enough to live off. Really I just want to find a career that is interesting and challenging and would appreciate anyone who can help poit me in the right direction.

Finding a job in D.C.?
Look online for a while and see if you can get any interviews. If not and you are still sure you want to do it, move and start hitting the pavement. You can always substitute teach or even get a teaching job while you look as they are always short of teachers in DC.

My parents dont like my guy b/c he's a career in Information Technology he's great, but what shud i do?

i cannot lose him, for he';s a woderful person, but they fele that he won't be able to support me b/c IT jobs are becomign les. theyt want me to go for guys only in healthcare field, as they have more job opportunities. this is a cultural thing, biut i hate it. we both care for each other, he has a good job, and he's genlte, unliek the guys in my culture, which i'm not attracted to. what shud i do? i'm 23 years old, and applying for jobs so i can move out. shud i move out? also, i knwo maybe my parens wanted the best for me at first, but dismissing my guy is wrong, and callign him a loser and ordinary is also wrong. what shud i do? i'm sick and tied of their pushing me around. he's hard working, caring and loiving, but my indian parents(being close minded like my culture is) won't accept him and will disown me, but i cannot always go by what they always want, esp. not when he;'s a great guy, and i'm not into indian guys. help! are my parents not being close minded and wrong?

My parents dont like my guy b/c he's a career in Information Technology he's great, but what shud i do?
You are 23 years old - meaning you now have the right to choose what you want to do with your life. Most commonly I would rather say that "parents know best," but in this situation it seems they are over-acting and becoming unreasonable with you. If I were in your shoes - I would outrightly tell my parents how I feel, and confront them. I wouldn't fight with them - I will just tell them clearly and remind them of how old I am and that I should be independent. Now if you think you can live alone now - why not move out, so that you have more freedom. They cannot tell you who to marry because after all - it is not them who will live with your future husband - it is you who is going to live through that marriage. Most of arranged marriages I know fail. And to tell you, I have a lot of Indian friends (both male and female) who have chosen to go for love marriages instead of arranged ones or those chosen by parents. They are living happily to date. Good luck with you decision, God Bless You.
Reply:It sounds like he's a great guy. If he's got a good job, he takes good care of you and you love him, then stand up to your parents. Move out if you have to, get a job if you need to, but if you're THAT sure that you've found the one guy that will make you happy, then take the chance for him.

I know everybody wants their daughters to grow up and marry a rich doctor who will support them, but to demand that you only marry a doctor is ridiculous. Remind them that Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, was "just" an IT guy when he got started. Now, he's quite possibly the richest man in the world.

Reply:employmentnews.gov.in , this page gives information on good jobs , if you are interested in working in the banking sector ,choose any nationalised bank rather than private banks , also passing these exams is not easy hence take coaching from reputed institutes for the same , also as you have mentioned you would like to advise people in their investments , it is better you complete courses like bachelor in financial analysis and investment ,these might be help full in getting you the career of your choice.
Reply:No you are not. Unles you are qualified to give advice in investments. You might get a clerk job if they are desparate.

If you do Industrial Psychology they might consider for an appointment in selecting candidates for jobs.

Or you might get the job if the manager is your father-in-law as it is a private bank.

Can you collect unemployment in PA, if you quit your job b/c you are being treated badly?

I'm currently searching for another job that pays the same amount, I will even go slightly less.

I haven't been successful. I work in a machine shop. If I quit my job b/c the "owner" of the company belittles me everytime he walks by, and blames me for other employee's mistakes, and has NO People SKILLS!(i've been walking away for years)

Will I be able to collect, just until I get something else. I've been here for 6 years.

Can you collect unemployment in PA, if you quit your job b/c you are being treated badly?
every unemployment case is judged on it's own merits.

just because you quit a job does not prevent you from consideration.

you would have to be able to prove that you discussed this issue with the owner and tried to come to a resolution.

you will also have to prove that after that discussion you were treated in this manner so as to cause you to quit.

you have to be able to show that this was a hostile work environment and you had no other alternative but to quit the job.

some states will even require medical proof that the stress was unbearable.

the reasons you currently have listed as reasons to quit probably won't get you far at all. if you have six years in, sit down and TALK with the owner about these issues. communication can go a long way to solving most of what you have stated here. there are no risk in talking and the possible rewards far out weight the risk of the unemployment office. give the owner a chance to see the errors of his ways a make a better work place for you and all your co-workers.

as a general rule if you quit you probably won't be able to draw.

the only certain thing about unemployment is nothing is set in stone.
Reply:Though there are extrenuating circumstances, generally, you can only collect unemployment if you were fired or laid off.
Reply:No. You are SOL because you quit.

Can you lose your job b/c of your hair color/style???

I just got my hair done, all blond on top %26amp; dark brown under neath. My boss said I have to talk to him about my job %26amp; my new hair style b/c he does not like it. I think that he is going to try to get me to change it or treaten me with my job, CAN HE DO THAT??? If he can not then I WILL NOT CHANGE it back. I am a grown woman %26amp; don't feel the need to have permission to color my hair.

it is not pink, blue or any other crazy color. It is not sticking up like a mowhawk or anything crazy like that. He is just old school %26amp; does not like the change.

Can you lose your job b/c of your hair color/style???
Unless you have a contract or MOU then you can be fired for any reason at anytime as long as it is not based on race, religion, sex, color, etc etc etc.....

So yes, you can be fired for your boss not liking your hair color. I think it is good that he/she is going to talk to you about it, and giving you a chance to change it. It shows they want to keep you as an employee as long as you are willing to change.
Reply:If there is a company policy in place and you were aware of it prior to being hired, like, for eg, if it's in the company manual. Also, most states are at will employment states which means employment can be terminated at any time for any reason, of chourse, there are discrimination laws in place, but companies can have policys reguarding employees hair styles. The National Labor Relations Board is the place to contact for employer issues. You could always try to start a union.
Reply:YES -Especially if you dyed your hair from blond to brown - it shows u r stupid cause blonds have more fun!!!!!
Reply:It depends if your company has a dress code. If they do, I would recommend that you study it carefully before you meet with your boss.
Reply:yes, most likely you can be fired for your hair, unless you are black or some other minority and you can argue that your hair is tied to your ethnicity.
Reply:Yeah, but that's why I believe "Right to Starve" states should be unconstitutional. If the people had a way to a real union, this wouldn't happen.
Reply:Unless you are covered by a contract, you can be discharged at any time, for any reason, or for no reason at all.

If he thinks your hair style is a distraction, that is sufficient reason.
Reply:Yes.

Remember that having a job is nothing more than an agreement between you and your employer.
Reply:Is there a company policy?

He should be able to set the terms of your employment, but you should know the terms ahead of time.
Reply:He can do whatever you agreed to when you sought his employ.
Reply:Yes he can. If you work directly with the public and you are not representing the company in the light they feel is appropriate, you betcha you can lose your job.
Reply:I think bosses can fire you for just about anything now a days. Almost all employers have a dress/appearance code; violate that and you have to find another job that does allow it.

I turned down a job b/c of the relocation to another city. We have a have home with a mortgage.?

My husband is ok with the move b/c he thinks I should do what is best for my career. He is willing to do what he can in regards to the move. He will have to get another job,but is willing to start looking. Both our families live in the city where the job is. Which is why I considered it,but was having some hesistation. So if I turned the job down based on the relocating part, could I ask for it back? I turned them down on friday, and want to call them tomorrow which is monday.

I turned down a job b/c of the relocation to another city. We have a have home with a mortgage.?
You should go back and tell them you answered in haste last Friday and would like some more time to think about it. However, don't be surprised if they tell you the position is no longer available.

Boob Job... C cup or D cup?? guy opinions would be great!?

I am 5'5 120 pounds. I'm an average girl. I have a 32 full A cup right now. I want to have breast implants. Would a D be too big? I'm thinking a C cup would be best for my body.

Ladies- have you had this surgery before? What was your experience? Thanks!

Boob Job... C cup or D cup?? guy opinions would be great!?
Go for the C - you'll look curvy and very proportioned- unless you want the look of Jenna Jameson lol
Reply:I like small boobs.
Reply:go with C or a little bigger
Reply:a c cup at the most. anything bigger would kill your back.
Reply:c
Reply:i be around your height and weight, and I got me c cup implants. d cup be too big and be bad for back.
Reply:i think it depends on how much room you have or how big around you are
Reply:gilr go d man...if yor gonna endure the pain you mite as well make it worth the time. by the way my sister only got c cups and they look like B;s
Reply:I'm a guy.

For pure fun in bed, go with a "D".

But if you are active, then go with a "C". I would take an fun, active jogger/hiker with a "C" cup over a high maintenance "D" cup any day.
Reply:First - How old are you?

That makes a difference

Second... D cups MAY be a bit big for you now... but

what happens in 10 years... when maybe you're proportionally BIGGER.
Reply:A D cup on a body that small ? Sweeeet!!!
Reply:I would say C's. because of the way your build the D's would look to big I say. But then again I dont like them HUGE so idk. But c's sound good.
Reply:Dont get implants - they just dont feel right.

The natural look is much better in my opninion
Reply:I think a B would be fine for you? How old are you?15
Reply:I never had a boob job, but my aunt did. She really wanted it though %26amp; i thought it would be a great way to boost her confidence because she was nearly flat chested. She got up to a b38 and they look great on her. I'm pretty sure its pretty expensive and you should get them redone every 10-15 years. There are risks however, but i'm pretty sure the percentage isn't that high for mistakes. Boob job is pretty simple so not much to fear. I think a full C is perfect. You don't want to go to big afteral Ds might start to hurt your back. I have a D cup i'm 17, but my moms has Es... its just a family thing. My back is pretty sore somtimes, but i'm gonna keep mine unless they hurt me more in the future then i'll get a reduction. it's also on how your built.. i'm really thin and about 5 pounds less then you. %26amp; i'm 5'8. You should go with the C trust me..
Reply:C is always better, but if your hubby/ BF likes D, go for it,

you are not going to have surgery again and again
Reply:C, and no, mine's au naturel.
Reply:i have no real opinion on this matter...however dont go too big. My mum is skinny and has naturally big boobs, she would usually fit into a size 10 but her boobs mean she fits into a size 14 and all her clothes are baggy. She hates having big boobs because she cant fit into the clothes she wants to. Just take it into consideration when deciding
Reply:It depends on your body size. Alot of guys would say the bigger the better, but sometimes its just much. C's are nice size and should be fine.
Reply:well i must tell you im a d and they are ALWAYS sore and pull on your back, and the bras for d's are more expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

you need to get a c instead, because like i said the d's just would NOT look right!
Reply:I'm almost your exact size, I'm 5'6 and 121 pounds. I have a C naturally and they look great. I would defiantly not get a D because i know on me they would look overwhelming and un-proportional. My best bet is that you should go with a C and you can always add on later.
Reply:Well...I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, because I am a C, and they drive me crazy! They are always in the way, I like to go jogging but it hurts too much, and my back gets sore. I think you should listen to the girl's opinions more than the guys because for them it is just a visual thing. you are going to actually have to live with this one! Be careful what you wish for!
Reply:if u want to get us horny bad boys go d cup
Reply:I would say C-cup. D will look too big and unnatural not to mention the back problems Ds will create.
Reply:From experience I would go to a full C. They are going to be bigger the first few months anyway from the swelling and surgery. Once they "settle" a full C cup is plenty. Your body size is small so any bigger than a C would look freakishly too big. Boob jobs that look like Pam Anderson are actually boob jobs that have gone bad because they are too big...the sad thing is many women want this look. But it starts to encapsulate and looks terrible. Stick to a C. Good luck! You will love them!
Reply:Yes, on your body type, I would go for a 34C or at most, a 36C ...Good luck with the surgery, and when it's done, please post the pics of your new hot body to show off to your friends on YA! Thanks and all the best!
Reply:When you see the doc that does the surgery for you he will show you pictures on a computer with your bod and what it will look like with different sizes..... best to make the right choice then!
Reply:Definitely go for the C cup!!! For my money, boobs that are too big aren't attractive!
Reply:c ... d is WAY too big, especially for your body type
Reply:D cup is waaay to much! Go for a c if you really want implants but really, A 32 is awesome, you don't need bigger! :) (only more.. 4 boobed women are awesome!) lol
Reply:the bigger the better
